The Coliseum (Coloseum, Colosseum), built during the reign of Emperor Vespasiano c. 72 AD and dedicated in 80 AD by his son Titus. Several earthquakes in the 5th century damaged the structure and the collapse of the western portion probably was the result of the September 1349 earthquake.
