Physiographic Sections of AlabamaBecause of their areal extent, physiographic sections are a convenient way to describe the physiography of a state. There are five physiographic sections in Alabama (Figure PH1 and Table L1), three belonging to the Appalachian Highlands region, and one each to the Inland Plains and the Coastal Plain regions.
