UPsand and gravellimestone
 

Most sand and gravel deposits occur in the Coastal Plain, south of the Fall Line.

Production comes primarily from Montgomery County (16%), Elmore County (8%) and Mobile County (8%). With the exception of those in Mobile County, these deposits are very young (Quaternary) and  result from sediment deposited by rivers.
