Geology

The Highland Rim consists of Mississippian and Ordovician sedimentary rocks that dip (slope) gently to the south-southwest (Figure HRG1).

The characteristics of each unit are listed in Table 1.   Limestone quarries are common in the Bangor and Tuscumbia limestones.
